Problem
Run out of soft water
between regenerations
Control does not draw
brine
Brine tank overflow
Intermittent or irregular
brine draw
No conditioned water
after regeneration
Control backwashes at
excessively low or high
rate
26
Possible Causes
Incorrect injector
Improper regeneration
Fouled resin bed
Incorrect salt dose and capacity setting • Set Salt per Regen and Capacity setting to proper level. Refer to
Incorrect hardness
Water hardness has increased
Restricted meter turbine rotation due
to foreign material in meter housing
Water usage below 1/5 gallon
per minute
Brine draw value from Advanced
Programming Parameters table is
incorrect
Incorrect salt type or use of grid plate
(salt shelf)
Low water pressure
Restricted drain line
Injector or injector screen is plugged
Injector defective
Valve disc 3 and/or 5 not closed
Air check valve prematurely closed
Brine valve disc 1 held open
Valve disc 2 not closed during brine
draw, causing brine refill
Air leak in brine line to air check
Salt setting too high
Float assembly malfunctions
Low water pressure
Defective injector
Unit did not regenerate
No salt in brine tank
Plugged injector
Air check valve closed prematurely
Incorrect salt type or use of grid plate
(salt shelf) in brine tank
Incorrect backwash controller
Foreign matter affecting controller
operation
What To Do
• With water pressure > 70 psi, use 4 bump injectors
(WS15X10059).
• Repeat regeneration, making certain correct salt dosage is
used.
• Use resin cleaner.
the Programming the Control sections.
• Set to correct hardness. Refer to the Programming the
Control sections.
• Set to new value. Refer to the Programming the Control
sections.
• Remove bypass, free up turbine and flush with clean
water. Turbine should spin freely—if not, replace meter.
• Repair leaky plumbing and/or fixtures.
• Set correct brine draw value.
• Do not use block salt or grid plate (salt shelf) in brine tank.
• Increase water pressure (20 psi at conditioner).
• Remove obstruction.
• Clean injector and screen. Refer to the Cleaning the Injector and
Screen section.
• Replace injector and cap.
• Manually operate cam gear to flush out foreign matter holding
disc open. Replace if needed.
• Briefly put control into brine refill status. Refer to the Manual
Regeneration section. Repair air check valve if needed.
• Manually operate cam gear to flush out foreign matter holding
disc open.
• Manually operate cam gear to flush out foreign matter holding
disc open.
• Check all connections in brine line for leaks.
• Set in new values. Refer to Advanced Programming section.
• Inspect float assembly in brine well for proper operation.
It must be able to move freely.
• Increase water pressure (20 psi at conditioner).
• Replace both injector and injector cap.
• Check for power.
• Add salt to brine tank.
• Remove injector and flush it and injector screen.
• Put control momentarily into REFILL to free air check. Replace
or repair air check as needed.
• Do not use block salt or grid plate (salt shelf) in brine tank.
• Replace with correct size controller.
• Remove and clean controller.
