    The appliance also provides eight data and parity disk drives that vary in storage capacity. These disk drives are located in slots 4 through 11 in the appliance front panel. Refer to the Symantec NetBackup 5230 Appliance and Symantec Storage Shelf Product Description for descriptions of the storage capacities that are available.

A NetBackup 5230 appliance weighs 52 lbs (23.58 kg), with disks installed. A Symantec Storage Shelf weighs about 71.7 lbs (32.5 kg) with disks installed. Use appropriate practices, techniques, and tools when handling these components.

    33. Installing the Symantec Storage Shelf guide rails The Symantec Storage Shelf is shipped with left and right mounting rails. These rails install in a standard 19-inch rack. The front plates of the rails are marked left and right. Two-inch lips on the bottoms of the rails provide a shelf on which the storage system sits.

To improve the power distribution within a rack environment, Symantec will ship two of the Power Distribution Unit (PDU) compatible cords (C13-C14) instead of the AC power cords. The transition to the new cords will be gradual.
