2.8.6 Power Requirements

To ensure the low threshold of 20 V input to the peripheral is met, the number and type of
peripherals and location on the D.20 Link is reviewed with respect to cable IR drop. If the IR
drop is exceeded, remote D20 peripherals and DCIs will require a local 24/48 V DC power
supply. For 125 V systems, employ a WESDAC Power Converter (125 V DC/AC input, 24 V or
48 V DC output) for local operation of D20 peripherals and DCIs.
The D.20 Communication Interface and D.20 Fiber Optic Splitter require 24/48 V DC power.
This power may be supplied from standard D.20 cable, if available. Remote D20 peripherals are
normally powered via the D.20 line using a #20 AWG [0.812mm] cable.
Typical power requirements for D20 modules are summarized in Appendix E, Power
Consumption – D20 Modules. When using a 20-60 V DC input for powering a D20 Power
Supply, the peripherals obtain power directly from the input source (after switched and fused).
2.9 Redundancy
The D20/D200 supports the following fault-tolerant system configurations:
• Single D20/D200 with single D.20 Link
• Single D20/D200 with two D.20 Links
• Redundant D20/D200 system with single LAN (illustrated in Figure 44)
• Single D20/D200 with loop redundancy (illustrated in Figure 45)
• Single D20/D200 with redundant LAN (illustrated in Figure 46)
• Redundant D20/D200 system with redundant LAN
