The valve on the Harvest Right Home Freeze Dryer should be closed during operation. The manual states: "Close the drain valve. In the closed position, the drain valve is perpendicular to the hose." Additionally, the system will remind the user to close the drain valve before proceeding with the freeze-drying process.

The manual mentions that if the drain valve is left open, it can cause issues such as a vacuum leak, which may prevent proper operation. To fix the issue, ensure the drain valve is fully closed. If the problem persists, check for oil contamination or leaks in the system. If needed, perform an oil change and power flush as recommended. If the freeze dryer still does not cool down, contact Harvest Right Customer Support for further assistance.

Leaking while defrosting from bottom of the door.

A Harvest Right Home Freeze Dryer could leak from the bottom of the door while defrosting if the silicone door seal (gasket) is dirty, damaged, or not sealing properly. Dirt or grime on the gasket can prevent the door from closing tightly. If the gasket is stretched too far or cracked, it may not form a proper seal, allowing water to leak during defrosting.
