15. STARTUP MENU
To access this menu, hold down the [FUNC] key while powering up Analog Rytm MKII. From here you can
perform a variety of tasks. To choose the different alternatives, press the corresponding [TRIG] key.
15.1 TEST MODE
To enter this mode, press the[TRIG 1] key.
Warning: For testing purposes, a short loud beep is heard through all outputs of the unit.
If you have any trouble with your Analog Rytm MKII and suspect it may be due to a hardware problem,
perform this self-test. No errors should be reported as shown below. If that is not the case, contact Elektron
support or the retailer that you bought Analog Rytm MKII from. The [UP] and [DOWN] keys can be used to
scroll through the test log.
15.2 EMPTY RESET
To perform this operation, press the [TRIG 2] key. All kits, patterns, Sounds and songs will be erased. The
+Drive remains intact.
15.3 FACTORY RESET
When performing a factory reset on the Analog Rytm MKII, it will overwrite and re-initialize the active RAM
project (including all pattern, kit, sound pool and global data). The +Drive project slot 1 will be overwritten
and re-initialized with factory preset patterns, kits, Sounds and settings. Sound bank A will be overwritten
with the factory Sounds.
If you wish to keep the active project, remember to save it to a +Drive project slot higher than 1 before you
perform a factory reset. To perform a factory reset, press the [TRIG 3] key.
15.4 OS UPGRADE
Initiate the OS upgrade by pressing the [TRIG 5] key. Analog Rytm MKII will enter a waiting stage, listen-
ing for incoming OS data, and "READY TO RECEIVE" will be shown on the screen. For the transfer to be
possible, the device sending the OS syx file should be connected to the MIDI IN port of Analog Rytm MKII.
To send the OS syx file, use our free SysEx utility software C6. The OS syx file and the C6 software can be
downloaded from the Elektron website.
USB MIDI transfers are not possible when in the STARTUP menu.
Please note that the Analog Rytm MKII will not appear as an icon on your computer desktop.
On your computer, download the OS syx file, open the C6 software. Click "Configure" and select Elektron
Analog Rytm MKII for MIDI In as well as MIDI Out. Drag the syx file to the C6 main window, then highlight
it by pointing and clicking on it with the mouse pointer. Point and click on the "send" button in the top left
corner of the C6 window.
As the Analog Rytm MKII receives the OS a progress bar will show how much of the OS has been received.
When the transfer is finished the message "UPGRADING... DO NOT TURN OFF" appears. During the up-
grade, the [TRIG] keys will light up one after another, first in a dimly lit cycle (erasing the old OS) and then
in a second cycle with fully lit LEDs (writing the new OS). Please note that this takes a little while. When this
process is finished, the OS is updated, and the unit restarts.
• When you send the OS syx file, use our free SysEx utility C6. You can download it from the
Elektron website.
15.5 EXIT
Press the [TRIG 5] key to exit the STARTUP menu.
