I Connecting to the S VIDEO IN terminal
The S VIDEO OUT terminal achieves a more vivid picture than the
VIDEO OUT terminal. (Actual results depend on the television.)
After completing After completing "Connection with a television"
(4 16), "Connection with a television and cable box or DirecTV
receiver" (4 17) or "Connection with a television and satellite
receiver other than DirecTV" (4 18), connect the S Video cable in
illustrated below.
Usually you can watch a picture from INPUT2 terminal. When you
want to playback VHS while recording on DVD, change to INPUT1
terminal.

output (4 94) and provide a purer picture than the S VIDEO OUT

"Connection with a television and satellite receiver other than
DirecTV" (4 18), connect the COMPONENT
VIDEO cable in
illustrated below.

VIDEO INPUT
terminal. When you want to playback VHS while recording on DVD,
change to INPUT1 terminal.

an optical digital audio cable and change the settings in "Digital
Audio Output" (4 76).
• Before purchasing an optical digital audio cable, check the terminal
shape of the connected equipment.
• You cannot use DTS Digital Surround decoders not suited to DVD.
• Even if using this connection, output will be only 2 channels when
playing DVD-Audio.
