1.3 ENERVISTA URPC SETUP SOFTWARE

This section is intended as a quick start guide to using the enerVista URPC Setup software. Please refer to the enerVista
URPC Setup Help File and Chapter 4 of this manual for more information.
a) CONFIGURING AN ETHERNET CONNECTION
Before starting, verify that the Ethernet network cable is properly connected to the Ethernet port on the back of the relay. To
setup the relay for Ethernet communications, it will be necessary to define a Site, then add the relay as a Device at that site.

Install and start the latest version of the enerVista URPC Setup software (available from the GE enerVista CD or online
from
http://www.GEindustrial.com/multilin

Select the "UR" device from the enerVista Launchpad to start enerVista URPC Setup.

Click the Device Setup button to open the Device Setup window, them click the Add Site button to define a new site.
4.
Enter the desired site name in the "Site Name" field. If desired, a short description of site can also be entered along
with the display order of devices defined for the site. Click the OK button when complete.
5.
The new site will appear in the upper-left list in the enerVista URPC Setup window. Click on the new site name and
then click the Device Setup button to re-open the Device Setup window.

Click the Add Device button to define the new device.
7.
Enter the desired name in the "Device Name" field and a description (optional) of the site.
8.
Select "Ethernet" from the Interface drop-down list. This will display a number of interface parameters that must be
entered for proper Ethernet functionality.

Click the Read Order Code button to connect to the T35 device and upload the order code. If an communications error
occurs, ensure that the three enerVista URPC Setup values entered in the previous step correspond to the relay set-
ting values.
10. Click OK when the relay order code has been received. The new device will be added to the Site List window (or
Online window) located in the top left corner of the main enerVista URPC Setup window.
The Site Device has now been configured for Ethernet communications. Proceed to Section c) below to begin communica-
tions.
b) CONFIGURING AN RS232 CONNECTION
Before starting, verify that the RS232 serial cable is properly connected to the RS232 port on the front panel of the relay.

Install and start the latest version of the enerVista URPC Setup software (available from the GE enerVista CD or online
from http://www.GEindustrial.com/multilin.

Select the Device Setup button to open the Device Setup window and click the Add Site button to define a new site.

Enter the desired site name in the "Site Name" field. If desired, a short description of site can also be entered along
with the display order of devices defined for the site. Click the OK button when complete.

The new site will appear in the upper-left list in the enerVista URPC Setup window. Click on the new site name and
then click the Device Setup button to re-open the Device Setup window.
5.
Click the Add Device button to define the new device.
6.
Enter the desired name in the "Device Name" field and a description (optional) of the site.
7.
Select "Serial" from the Interface drop-down list. This will display a number of interface parameters that must be
entered for proper serial communications.
