Rec Resolution (
)
Select the picture sharpness when recording.
[Fine] [Normal]
Fine
Pictures become clear and vivid. Normally, use this setting.
Normal
Select it when recording noisy pictures.
≥"Fine" is automatically selected if you set "TV System" to "NTSC".
Hybrid VBR Resolution (
REC
Switch between automatic and fixed hybrid VBR resolution when
recording.
[Automatic] [Fixed]
Automatic
The unit automatically switches resolution rates during
recording according to the image. The unit reduces block
noise, which occurs during MPEG compression, by selecting
the optimum rate.
Fixed
The resolution rate is fixed to ensure the resolution rate is not
reduced.
Still Mode (
PLAY
)
Select the type of picture shown when you pause play.
[Automatic] [Field] [Frame]
Field
Less blurred field stills are shown. Select if jittering occurs
when "Automatic" is selected.
Frame
Sharper frame stills are shown. Select if small text or fine
patterns cannot be seen clearly when "Automatic" is
selected.
PLAY
Seamless Play (
)
Turn seamless play on or off on discs with play lists.
≥Seamless Play does not work with programmes recorded in
LPCM or when using Quick View (Play k1.3).
[On] [Off]
On
The scenes in play lists created with this unit are played
seamlessly. This may cause shifting of the points where
scenes change. Some play lists cannot be played seamlessly.
≥Seamless Play does not effect programmes that have been
recorded with LPCM sound.
Off
The points where scenes in play lists are played accurately,
but this may cause the picture to freeze for a moment when
scenes change.
ª Sound
PLAY t1.3 & Audio during Search (

Choose whether to operate the Quick View (Play k1.3) or not and
whether to have sound during search.

You may hear sound regardless of this setting with some discs.
Dynamic Range Compression (

Change the dynamic range for late night viewing.
[On] [Off]
Bilingual Audio Selection (
Select whether to record the main or secondary audio type when
recording to DVD-R or when recording using LPCM sound.

Choose whether to output Dolby Digital bitstream signals for
decoding on other equipment or to convert them to PCM
signals for 2-channel output.

Choose whether to output DTS bitstream signals for
decoding on other equipment or to not output signals at all.

Choose whether to output MPEG bitstream signals for
decoding on other equipment or to convert them to PCM

Audio Mode for XP Recording (
Choose the audio type when recording with XP mode.

≥Even if "LPCM" is set, sound becomes "Dolby Digital" in
recording mode other than XP mode.
