14.2 Setting the card type
Function 3: Switching the SIMATIC Memory Card to program card
Requirements:
• The memory card is of type firmware update card (FWUPDATE); the write protection of the
card is not set.
• No firmware update in progress; otherwise, the function cannot be selected.
Procedure:
1. To get to the function selection mode, press the FUNCT button for at least 3 seconds with a
sharp object and then release it. As an aid, the 7-segment display flashes "0" at one-second
intervals during this time.
After you release the button, you are in function selection mode. The 7-segment display
shows function "1": Save service data on SIMATIC Memory Card
2. Select the function "3" by briefly pressing the button twice.
3. To confirm the selection, press the FUNCT button within 10 seconds for at least 3 seconds
and then release it.
The 7-segment display now displays a "P" (Program) for 10 seconds. The memory card is
set to PROGRAM and the CPU re-evaluates the SIMATIC Memory Card.
After the startup, you can change the operating mode of the CPU via the mode selector
switch or via the TIA Portal. The firmware update files are retained.
If the requirements for the function selection are not fulfilled (for example, write protection
of the card set, no card inserted) then the 7-segment display shows the status "F" (Fault) for
10 seconds and the function is not performed. Next, the menu is closed and the 7-segment
display shows "0".
If the card is already of the PROGRAM type, the function is not executed. The menu is closed
and the 7-segment display displays "0".
Note
The function 3 is available to you as of the CPU firmware version V2.9.
When downgrading to firmware version V2.8, function 3 is only available until the firmware
version V2.8 has been activated by a restart. This means that, immediately after a
downgrade, you can still perform Function 3 to reset the SIMATIC Memory Card back to
program card.
Exit function selection mode
In function selection mode, briefly pressing a button for < 3 seconds selects the next function
(function "1", "2", "3" or "4"). The last function is "E". If you press the button for at least 3
seconds, the function selection module is exited. The function selection mode is also exited if
no key is pressed for 10 seconds.
