When you press the softkey "MEASUREMENT START" the control automatically switches to
"AUTOMATIC" mode and measuring cycle L887 is selected. The measuring cycle is
processed on NC START.
The measuring cycle measures two parallel surfaces (web) at points P1 and P2 along the
measuring axis. The actual distance between the two parallel surfaces as well as the position
of the centre point of the measuring axis with reference to the workpiece zero are calculated
from these two values.
The probe is at the determined centre point on completion of measurement.
The control automatically switches to JOG mode and the selection display "WORKPIECE
MEASUREMENT" appears on the screen with the following results
• Width of web (actual dimension)
• Deviation from set web width (difference)
• Web centre in the measured axis in machine or workpiece coordinates
