25.2.4 SIM Port Control

The SIM supports numerous port control functions required for SmartCard interaction. Each SmartCard
port has the following I/O signals: CLK, RST, DATA_RCV, DATA_XMT, SIMPD (SIM Presence
Detect), and SVEN (SIM Vcc enable). The SIM port logic provides open-drain or push pull DATA_XMT
pins. The presence of a SmartCard is detected with interrupt capability (see Table 25-4). The SIM can
produce a deep sleep wake-up through the SmartCard presence detect interrupt as well as provide manual
control of all SmartCard interface signals. Automatic powerdown of port logic on SmartCard presence
detect is available. The SIM port control produces the interrupt shown in Table 25-3.

25.2.5 SIM General Purpose Counter

The SIM contains a 16-bit counter that can be configured to use one of several selectable clock sources
including the card clock, receiver clock, or transmitter clock (ETU clock). A programmable 16-bit register
is provided to compare with the counter for interrupt generation. The SIM general purpose counter
(GPCNT) generates the interrupt shown in Table 25-4.

25.2.6 SIM LRC and CRC

The SIM generates linear redundancy check (LRC) information for both received and transmitted
characters. The LRC portion of the SIM contains a valid LRC detector and produces an 8-bit LRC value.
The LRC does not generate any interrupts.
