Leveling
the Mower
Deck
Whencorrectlyadjustedthe mowerdeck shouldbe level sideto side,
and the frontof the deck shouldbe approximately 1/4inchlowerthan
the rearof deck.
NOTE:Checkthe riding mower'stire pressurebeforeperforming any
deck levelingadjustments. S ee thetire side wallfor properinflation
pressures.
Side to Side Leveling
If thecuttingdeck appearsto be mowingunevenly, a sideto side
adjustment c an be performed.Adjustif necessaryas follows:
1.
With the ridingmowerparkedon a firm,levelsurface,placethe
deck lift handleinthe top notch (highestposition)and rotateboth
bladessothat they are perpendicular t o the ridingmowerframe.
2.
Lowerthe deck to the middleheightposition.
3.
Measurethe distancefrom the outsideleft blade tip to the ground
and the distancefromthe outside rightbladetip tothe ground.
Themeasurements shouldbe equal.If they'renot, proceedto the
next step.
4.
Comparingthetwo measurements, d eterminewhetherthe right
sideof the deck must be raisedor lowered.

Loosen,butdo not remove,the hexscrewon the left deck hanger
bracket.Referto Figure33.

Levelthe deck by usinga wrenchto turnthe adjustmentgear
(foundimmediately behindthe hex screwjust loosened)clock-
wise to lowertheleft sideof the deck,or counterclockwise to
raisethe left side of the deck.See Figure32.

Thedeck is properlyleveledwhenbothblade tip measurements
takenearlierare equal.
8.
Retightenthe hex capscrewon the rightdeck hangerbracket
whenproperadjustmentis achieved.
Front to Back Leveling
1.
The front of thedeck shouldbe approximately 1/4"lowerthan the
rearof the deck.Adjust if necessaryas follows:

With the deck raisedoff of the ground,rotatetheouterbladesso
that they are parallelto the frameof the ridingmower.
3.
If the sideto sidelevelingwas done correctly,measuring justthe
rightbladeshouldbe acceptableto attainthe correctback to front
pitchof the deck.
4.
Measurethedistancefromthe front tip of the bladeto the
groundand the distancefrom the rear tip to the ground.Thefront
distanceshouldbe approximately 1/4"less thanthe rear.If itis
not, proceedto the next step.
5.
If the front of thedeck was too low,turn the flangelock nuts
clockwiseagainstthe hangerbracketto shortenthe front hanger
rodand raisethe front of the deck. Referto Figure34.

If the front of thedeck was too high,turn theflangelock nuts
counterclockwise to lengthenthe front hangerrod and lowerthe
front of the deck.
NOTE:Thedeck front hangerrod shouldbe at the front of the slots
of the front deck bracket.If one side of the rod isnot at the frontof its
slot,turnthe inner flange lock nuton that side untilrodjusttouchesthe
front of the slot.Then re-measure and re-adjustthefront hanger rodas
necessary.
