For fiber-optic SFP modules, remove the dust plugs from the SFP module optical ports and store them

Removing SFP Modules from SFP Module Slots

To remove an SFP module from a module receptacle, follow these steps:
Attach an ESD-preventive wrist strap to your wrist and to a bare metal surface on the chassis.

Disconnect the LC from the SFP module.

For reattachment, note which cable connector plug is send (TX) and which is receive (RX).

For fiber-optic SFP modules, insert a dust plug into the optical ports of the SFP module to keep the

For fiber-optic SFP modules, insert the LC or MT-RJ cable connector into the SFP module.
For copper SFP modules, insert the RJ-45 cable connector into the SFP module.
When connecting to 1000BASE-T SFP modules, be sure to use a twisted four-pair,
Category 5 cable.
If the module has a Mylar tab latch, pull the tab straight out so that you remove the SFP module from
the port in a parallel direction. Do not twist or pull the tab because you could disconnect it from the
SFP module.
