Programming the TRICK

2.1

Introduction

The TRICK is programmable using the Radio Service Software (RSS). The RSS runs on an IBM
compatible PC running the Microsoft Windows 3.11, Windows NT or Windows '95 operating
systems.
The PC serial port is connected to the TRICK programming socket on its front panel via a standard
Motorola Radio Interface Box (RIB).
In addition to the PC, the following Motorola parts are required to support personality programming;
* select either a 240V or 220V power supply depending upon mains voltage in destination country
** select either a 25 pin or 9 pin connector, depending upon the PC being used.
2.2

Controls and Indicators

The controls and indicators on the front panel of the TRICK are shown below in Figure 1-6.
SET-UP
The controls and indicators used when the TRICK is being programmed are joined on the front
panel by a 'lead line'. The functionality of these controls and indicators is described below.
