Cassette Tape Player Basics
PRESS BOTH
Loading a Cassette
Gently insert the cassette with the exposed tape facing to the right until
the mechanism captures it, and playback starts.
*~PROGRAM INDICATOR
Rewind and Fast Forward
Press and engage either «44 (REW) to rewind or » (FF) to fast forward the
tape.

To stop rewind or fast forward, gently press the button that is not in use.
The tape will resume playing from that position.
If you rewind the tape fully, it will play on the same program side again.
If you fast forward to the end, play will resume from the beginning of other
side of the tape.
Changing Sides
Firmly press << (REW) and pm» (FF) at the same time to switch to the
program on the other side of the tape.
The display changes to Indicate which program is playing.

Metal Tape Mode
Press MTL when playing metal or chromium dioxlde (CrOz) tapes.
To tum it off, press MTL again.

'Note: Playing non-metal tapes in MTL mode causes high frequency im-
balance, which affects tone quality.
Dolby Noise Reduction
(Only for CQ-RD445LEN)
Press DX] when playing tapes recorded with Dolby 8 NR. To turn it off,
press DX again.

Note: Playing tapes recorded without Dolby NR_ with Dolby NR on may
cause the tape to sound "dull" or muffled.
Stopping and Ejecting the
Tape
Once Inserted into the unit, your tape will play continuously until you eject
it.
When the & button is pushed in, the tape is ejected, and the same pro-
gram before Is received in radio mode, or the mode returns to CD
changer mode.
Note: Always remove the cassette when you are done using the cassette
pfayer. This will prolong the life of your tape.
TPS Operation (Selecting a
Program)
(Only for CQ-RD445LEN)
Press TPS to activate the tape program search mode.

e Press and engage #4 (REW) to search for the beginning of the cur-
rent program.
however, does not mean that the set Is faulty.
e There is an interval less than 4 seconds or having a high level of noise
or hum between programs. 24
