How to remove and reposition carbon monoxide sensor for telus

Removal of Carbon Monoxide Sensor
1. Grab the face of the carbon monoxide sensor and twist to the left to release from the
back plate
2. Arm and disarm the alarm to clear panel alert
3. Determine if the back plate is attached with adhesive tape or screwed in
a. If stuck with adhesive tape, remove the sensor by using a thin, sharp knife to
carefully cut through the tape to release
b. If there are screws, remove the screws to release
4. Place sensor in a secure place
5. If you are removing more than one sensor, label the sensor with the location i.e. kitchen
sliding door, to ensure its repositioned in the same location
6. If you have not done so in a while, this may be a good opportunity to replace the
batteries in the sensor.
Repositioning of Carbon Monoxide
Ensure to have a screw or adhesive tape, depending on your preference
1. Determine where you want to position the Carbon Monoxide sensor.
a. It's recommended to place one carbon monoxide detector on every floor
b. It's recommended to be placed 5ft from the ground
c. Place outside of sleeping area, near attached garage entrance, in living room,
near stairway to upper level, in basement
2. Secure the back plate to the surface, whether using a screw or adhesive tape
3. Place the 3 AAA batteries inside the sensor
a. During the initial power-up the LED blinks alternately red, yellow then green. It
takes about 8 seconds for the detector to stabilize
b. After power-up has completed and the detector is functioning normally, the
green LED blinks once every 12 seconds
4. Position sensor onto the back plate by turning the sensor clockwise until the marks
align
