2.5 Memory Monitoring
Memory with Error Checking and Correcting (ECC) is installed in this equipment. A single
bit error in the memory can be automatically corrected without causing any problems to the
operation of the equipment. On the other hand, if a single bit error occurs as shown below,
there is a possibility that the memory has failed, and we recommend replacing the memory
modules from the viewpoint of preventive maintenance.
①
When the error occurs frequently while the OS is running
②
When the error continues to occur at each OS startup
If memory might fail, the memory status monitoring function notifies as follows:
(1) Event notification
(2) Popup notification
(3) Remote notification
(4) The GetMemStatus function in the RAS library
In order to maintain compatibility with the conventional equipment in (2) or (3), ① is
notified that "error correction is occurring frequently", ② is "a possibility of memory
failure". In (1) and (4),① and ② are handled as memory error and the same value will be
returned.
For details about (1) to (3), see "CHAPTER 4 CHECKING THE HARDWARE STATUS".
For details about (4), see "6.1.7 Get function for the memory condition (GetMemStatus)".
NOTE
For information about how to replace a memory module, refer to "HF-W6500
Model 60 INSTRUCTION MANUAL (manual number WIN-62-0074)".
