PDM Maintenance Bypass Procedure

Remove the Bypass Switch

The Bypass LED on the PDM will illuminate red when the UPS is

not in the proper state to enter Maintenance Bypass mode. Do
not attempt to switch to bypass when the red LED is illuminated,
or the UPS load will be dropped.
Note: The UPS will only switch to Electronic Bypass mode if the line
voltage and frequency is within the specified tolerance. See the UPS
nameplate ratings for more information.
If the Bypass LED on the PDM does not illuminate red, move

the Maintenance Bypass Switch to the BYPASS position.
Press the ON/OFF button to shut down the UPS.

The UPS can safely be removed from the PDM and rack.
Note: When BYPASS is enabled, connected equipment will receive
filtered AC mains power, but will not receive battery power in the event
of a blackout.
Replacement UPS Power Module Installation Procedure
Install the UPS to the rack and mate it with the PDM (refer to Mounting the UPS and Mounting the Power Module instructions for

more information).
The UPS will power up. When it senses the Manual Bypass Switch is in the bypass position, the UPS will enter electronic Bypass Mode.

Note: If a remote management card is used, install it before mating the UPS to the PDM.
Using the LCD, configure the UPS settings to match the configurations made on the original UPS.

Turn the Manual Bypass Switch to the Normal Position.

Reinstall the Bypass Switch Cover. The maintenance bypass warning message will be cleared.

The UPS will remain in electronic Bypass Mode until the UPS is turned on via the LCD front panel display. To turn on the UPS, press and

hold the ON button for 3 seconds.
