Charging

Charging

The rechargeable battery (fitted in the device) is supplied uncharged. Charge the rechargeable battery before using the device.
Connect this device to a computer via USB charging cable (included)

  • During charging, the LED lights red. After charging is complete, the LED extinguishes.
  • It takes around 2.5 hours to fully charge a fully discharged battery.
  • Check the direction of the connectors and keep the plug straight when inserting/removing it. (Inserting the plug at an angle or in the wrong direction may cause malfunction due to deformation of the connector.)
  • During charging, the power to the device is not switched on.
  • Ensure that the computer is switched on and is not in standby or hibernation mode.
  • Only use the USB charging cable provided in the delivery package.
  • If the battery level becomes low during use of this device, the LED flashing blue will change to red.

Turning the unit on and off
Press and hold the button [ ] on this device for about 3 seconds, until the LED flashes (blue) .

  • A beep sounds and the LED starts flashing slowly (blue)

Power off

  • Press and hold the button [ ] for about 5 seconds.

Connecting to a Bluetooth device

Bluetooth pairing

  1. With the power off, press and hold the button [ ] on this device until the LED flashes.
    • When pairing with the device for the first time: approx. 3 seconds
    • When pairing with a second or subsequent device: approx. 5 seconds
    • The product will start searching for the Bluetooth device to connect, and the LED will flash alternately blue and red.
  2. Turn on the Bluetooth device and enable the Bluetooth function.
  3. Select "RB-HX220B" from the Bluetooth device menu.
    Connecting to a Bluetooth device
    • If prompted to enter the access key, enter "0000 (four zero)" — the access key for this product.
    • If the LED flashes three times (blue) approximately every 2 seconds, pairing is complete (registration completed). (Connection established)
    • If the connection to the device is not established within approx. 5 minutes, the product will switch off. Perform the pairing again.

Connecting with a paired Bluetooth device

  1. Switch on this device.
  2. Follow steps 2 and 3 in "Bluetooth Pairing". ( see above)
    • If the LED flashes (blue) approximately every 5 seconds, pairing is complete (registration completed). (Connection established)

Using the unit

When using the following functions marked with an icon [ ], connect your Bluetooth device to this device.

Listening to music

Select and play music on your Bluetooth device.

  • The device's headphones will output music or the sound of video being played.

Remote control

Using the unit - Remote control
Only available if the device Bluetooth supports Bluetooth AVRCP profiles [ ], (Example of an action)

Playback/ pause: Press [ ]
Increasing volume: Press [+]
Decreasing volume: Press [-]
Fast forward to the beginning the following composition: Press and hold [+]
Back to the beginning of the current composition: Press and hold [-]
  • There are 16 levels for volume adjustment. When reached maximum or minimum volume, an acoustic signal sounds.

Low frequency amplification

You can listen to music with amplified bass frequencies. Press [BASS] on this device to boost d bass frequencies.

  • The settings in effect before the power is switched off will not be saved in memory.

Phone Call

  1. Press [ ] on this device and answer an incoming call.
    • (HFP profile only) To reject an incoming call, press and hold the [ ].
  2. Start a conversation.
  3. To end the phone call, press [ ]
    • (HFP profile only) Hearing during a telephone call may be poor if the device is used in places with high ambient noise levels, outdoors or in places with strong winds. In that case, move to another location or switch to perform call to a Bluetooth enabled phone to continue the call. (To switch, press [ ] on this device twice quickly.)
    • On a Bluetooth-enabled phone you can make phone calls calls using this device's microphone and Bluetooth-enabled phone app.

Restore factory settings

Charge the battery before restoring the device to factory settings.

  1. When this device is off, press and hold the button [ ] for at least 5 seconds until the LED flashes blue and red alternately.
  2. When the LED flashes blue and red alternately, press and hold [+] for at least 5 seconds.
    • When the LED illuminates simultaneously (blue and red) turn off, the default settings will be restored.

When re-pairing with the device, delete the registration information (device: "RB-HX220B") from the Bluetooth device menu and register this product to the Bluetooth device again.

Removing the battery when disposing of this device

Removing the battery when disposing of this device

The following instructions are not intended for repair purposes, but for the disposal of this device. Once disassembled, the device cannot be repaired.

  • When disposing of this device, remove the internal battery and return it for recycling.
  • Disassemble the device when the battery is fully discharged.
  • Keep disassembled parts out of the reach of children.

Handling used batteries

  • Insulate the connectors with adhesive tape or similar material.
  • Do not disassemble.

Battery

  • Do not heat or expose to fire.
  • Do not leave the batteries in the car with the windows and doors closed in the sun for a long period of time.
  • Incorrect handling of the batteries can lead to electrolyte leaks which can get onto other objects and damage them. In the event of a battery leak, contact your retailer. If electrolyte comes into contact with any part of your body, flush the area thoroughly with water.
  • When disposing of the batteries, ask your local authorities or dealer for the correct method of disposal.
  1. Remove the right earpiece pad.
  2. Unscrew 4 screws and then remove the trim.
  3. Cut the wires coming out of the battery one by one.
  4. Remove the battery.

Troubleshooting

Before contacting a service technician, carry out the following checks. If you are unsure about any of the check points or the advice given does not help resolve the problem, ask your point-of-sale adviser for guidance.

There is no sound

  • Ensure that the device and the Bluetooth device are connected correctly. ( )
  • Check if music is playing on your Bluetooth device.
  • Make sure that this device is switched on and that the volume is not set too low.
  • Re-pair and reconnect the device Bluetooth to this device ( )
  • Check if your device supports Bluetooth A2DP profile. Also refer to the operating instructions for the Bluetooth device.

Low volume

  • Increase the volume of this device. ( )
  • Increase the volume on your Bluetooth device.

The sound from the device to be connected is interrupted. / Too much noise. / The sound quality is poor.

  • The sound may be interrupted if signals are blocked. Don't close this device completely with the palm of your hand, etc.
  • The other device may be outside the communication range, i.e., more than 10 metres away. Move it closer to this device.
  • Remove any obstructions between this device and the device to be connected.
  • Switch off any wireless LAN devices that are not in use.
  • Communication problems can occur when the battery charge is low. Charge the device. ( )

Unable to connect the device.

  • Delete the pairing information for this device from the Bluetooth device and then perform re-pairing. ( )

You can't hear the other person

  • Make sure this device and a Bluetooth-enabled phone are ON.
  • Check that this device is connected to a phone with the Bluetooth function.( )
  • Check the sound settings on your Bluetooth-enabled phone.
  • When a Bluetooth-enabled phone is set as the device to make calls, switch the setting to this device. ( )
  • If the other person's voice is too quiet, increase the volume on this device and on the Bluetooth-enabled phone.

It is not possible to make a phone call

  • Check if your device supports Bluetooth "HFP" profile. Also refer to the operating instructions for your Bluetooth-enabled phone.

The device does not respond to commands

  • If all operations are rejected by the device, you can reset it to its initial settings. To reset this device, press and hold the button [ ] for at least 10 seconds. (Information on paired devices will not be deleted.)

The device is not charging

  • Is the USB port you are using working correctly? If your computer has other USB ports, remove the plug from the port you are using and insert into another port.
  • If the above measures do not help, disconnect the USB charging cable and reconnect it.
  • If the charging time and operating time of the device has decreased, the battery may have run out. (Number of times to recharge the battery: approx. 300)

The LED does not lighten during charging. / The charging lasts longer.

  • Is the USB charging cable securely connected to the USB socket of your computer? ( )
  • Charge the device only at a room temperature from 10°C up to 35°C.

The power supply is not switched on

  • Perhaps the device is charging? The power is not switched-on during charging. ( )
