Canon P1-DTSC - Calculator Manual

BEFORE STARTING

Remove the insulation tape at the back of calculator and press [RESET] key before use.

LOADING AND REPLACING BATTERIES

LOADING

  1. Remove the cover of the battery chamber at the bottom of the calculator by sliding it in the direction of the arrow.
  2. Insert four new batteries (size AA) into the battery chamber as illustrated. Insert the (–) end first.
  3. Replace the cover. The calculator will not operate if batteries are loaded incorrectly.

REPLACEMENT

  • Low battery power may cause printing problems or random paper advances. It can also disable the key.
  • If the display is dim or the printing speed decreases or the " " icon appears, the batteries may be discharged. Replace batteries to resume normal operations.
  • Remove the battery if you do not plan to use the unit for a long period of time.

CANON AC ADAPTER AD-11 (for Asia) / AD-35 (for Australia) (Optional)

  1. Use only the Canon AC Adapter AD-11 (for Asia) / AD-35 (for Australia).
  2. Turn the calculator off before connecting or disconnecting the AC Adapter.
  • In case of malfunctions, e.g. not working or non-stop printing, remove the AC adapter and batteries for about 1 minute to reset the calculator.

REPLACING THE INK ROLLER

  1. Remove the printer cover by pressing down on the mark.
  2. Lift up the old ink roller and remove it.
  3. Insert the new ink roller by pressing it gently into position. (Use Canon Ink Roller CP-16.)
  4. Replace the printer cover.

INSERTING PRINTING PAPER

  1. Remove the printer cover and lift up the arm.
  2. Place printing paper roll on the arm. The edge of the paper should be positioned as shown.
  3. Insert the edge of the paper into the slit at the back of the machine and continue inserting the paper between the black and silver printer parts inside the machine. Turn the calculator on.

  4. Press the paper feed key [ ] to advance the paper.
  5. Insert paper through the printer cover while replacing the printer cover.
    The following printing paper should be used for the P1-DTSC:
  • Standard calculator paper – Width: 57-58mm (2-1/4") / Max. Diameter: 86mm (3-3/8")
  1. If the diameter of the paper roll is less than 27 mm (1-1/16"), you can load the paper roll as shown.

REPLACING BACKUP BATTERY

Memory backup battery retains the currency rate and tax rate setting, even if the power is off or the AC cord is disconnected.
Battery: 1 Lithium battery (Type: CR2032)
Battery life: Backup time 2000 hours


Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to the instruction. Dispose of batteries according to local regulations. Do not dispose as household waste.

REPLACING BACKUP BATTERY

After replace the back-up battery, press the [RESET] button, after resetting be sure to set the currency rate and tax rate again.

CALCULATING WITH DECIMALS

Decimal Point Selector Key – Used for designating the decimal point position (0, 2, 3, 4, A) for calculated results.
A (Add-Mode) – Addition and subtraction functions are performed with an automatic 2-digit decimal. This is convenient for currency calculations.
Floating Decimal point – All effective numbers up to 12 digits are printed or displayed. (NO ICON)
Rounding Key – Used for rounding final multiplication or division results to a pre-selected number of decimals. The round-off function is available when the "5/4" mark appears on display.

TAX CALCULATION FUNCTION

Store the Tax Rate – Press , and hold for 1 second, then enter the tax value and press to store the rate. The entered tax rate remains stored even when the calculator is turned off. RATE SET
Recall the Tax Rate – Press , and hold for 1 second, then press to recall the current tax rate.
Add Tax Key – Used for adding the tax amount to the displayed figure.
Deduct Tax Key – Used for deducting the tax amount from the displayed figure.

BUSINESS SALES CALCULATION

– Used for calculating the cost, selling price and profit margin amount. Enter the value of any 2 items to obtain the balance value item. (e.g. enter the value of the cost and the selling price to obtain the profit margin %.)

CURRENCY CONVERSION FUNCTION

Store the Currency Rate – Press , and hold for 1 second, then enter the currency conversion rate and press to store the rate.
Recall the Currency Rate – Press , and hold for 1 second, then press to recall the current rate.

  • For rates of 1 or greater, you can input up to 6 digits. For rates less than 1 you can input up to 7 digits, including 0 for the integer digit and leading zeros (though only six significant digits, counted from the left and starting with the first non-zero digit, can be specified).

OVERFLOW

In the following cases, when "E" is displayed, a dotted line is printed. The keyboard will be electronically locked, and further operation is impossible. Press to clear the overflow. The overflow occurs when:

  1. The result or the memory contents exceeds 12 digits to the left of the decimal point.
  2. Dividing by "0".
  3. The sequential operation speed is faster than the calculation processing speed. (Buffer Register Overflow)
