9. Remove the three screws that secure the power supply assembly.

10. Lift the power supply assembly off the chassis.
11. Ensure that the new power supply assembly is the correct replacement.
12. Position the new power supply assembly on the chassis so that the three screw holes in the power
supply assembly align with those in the chassis.
13. Install and tighten the three screws to secure the power supply assembly.
Note: Use only screws provided by Lenovo.
14. Reconnect the power supply assembly cables to the system board and the power cord connector.
15. Install the VESA mount bracket. See "Replacing the VESA mount bracket" on page 104.
16. Install the system-board shield. See "Replacing the system-board shield" on page 102.

Replacing the storage drive
Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter
1 "Read this first: Important safety information" on page 1.
For M700z
To replace the storage drive, do the following:
1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Then,
disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the
computer.
2. Place a soft, clean towel or cloth on the desk or surface. Hold the sides of your computer and gently lay
it down so that the screen is against the surface and the cover is facing up.
3. Remove the computer stand. See "Replacing the computer stand" on page 96.
4. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 101.
5. Remove the system-board shield. See "Replacing the system-board shield" on page 102.
6. Remove the VESA mount bracket. See "Replacing the VESA mount bracket" on page 104.
