Important safety information

Read this important information carefully before you use the appliance and its accessories and save it for future reference. The accessories supplied may vary for different products.

  • Keep the supply unit dry.

  • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
  • Always check the appliance before you use it. Do not use the appliance if it is damaged, as this may cause injury. Always replace a damaged part with one of the original type.

  • Never immerse the appliance in water. Do not use the appliance in the bath or shower.
  • Never use water hotter than 60°C to rinse the appliance.
  • Only use this appliance for its intended purpose as shown in the user manual.
  • Use and store the appliance at a temperature between 15°C and 35°C.
  • For hygienic reasons, the appliance should only be used by one person.
  • Do not expose the appliance to direct sunlight.
  • Only operate the appliance on 1.5V AA alkaline batteries.
  • Do not mix different brands and types of batteries, do not mix new and used batteries and do not use batteries with different date codes.
  • Do not recharge non-rechargeable batteries.
  • Insert batteries with the + and - poles pointing in the direction indicated in the battery compartment or holder.
  • Do not short-circuit the supply terminals of batteries.
  • Remove batteries from the appliance if you are not going to use it for some time.
  • Never use compressed air, scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids such as petrol or acetone to clean the appliance.

Electromagnetic fields (EMF)

This Philips appliance complies with all applicable standards and regulations regarding exposure to electromagnetic fields.

  • This appliance can be safely cleaned under the tap.

Preparing for use

Placing the battery

  1. To remove the battery compartment cover, turn it clockwise until the setting indicator points to the ‚ unlocked' indication (^).
  2. Pull the battery compartment cover off the handle.
  3. Put the battery in the battery compartment.

    Make sure the + and - poles of the battery point in the right direction.
    Note: The appliance operates on one R6 AA 1.5-volt battery. Preferably use Philips alkaline batteries. A new AA alkaline battery has an operating time of up to 2 hours.
  4. Slide the battery compartment cover back onto the handle.
  5. Turn the battery compartment cover anticlockwise until the setting indicator points to the‚ locked' indication (0).

Using the appliance

You can use the appliance for the following purposes:

  • Trim your nose hair with the trimming head.
  • Trim your ear hair with the trimming head.

Switching the appliance on and off

  • To switch on the appliance, turn the battery compartment cover to the ‚on' indication (I).
  • To switch off the appliance, turn the battery compartment cover to the ‚off' indication (0).

Trimming nose hair

Make sure your nostrils are clean.

  1. Switch on the appliance.
  2. Carefully insert the trimming head into one of your nostrils.

Do not insert the trimming head more than 0.5 cm into your nostrils.

  1. Slowly move the trimming head around to remove all unwanted hairs in your nostrils.
  2. Switch off the appliance.
  3. Clean the appliance after each use (see ‚Cleaning').

Trimming ear hair

Make sure your outer ear channels are clean and free from wax.

  1. Switch on the appliance.
  2. Slowly move the trimming head along the rim of the ear to remove hairs that stick out beyond the rim.
  3. Carefully insert the trimming head into the outer ear channel.

Do not insert the trimming head more than 0.5 cm into your ear channel, as this could damage the eardrum.

  1. Slowly turn the trimming head around to remove all unwanted hairs from your outer ear channel.
  2. Switch off the appliance.
  3. Clean the appliance after each use (see ‚Cleaning').

Cleaning

Clean the appliance immediately after use and when hair or dirt has accumulated on the cutting elements.

Do not immerse the motor unit in water or any other liquid, or rinse it under the tap.

Never use scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids such as petrol or acetone to clean the appliance.

Do not tap on the cutting elements.

Do not use any sharp objects to clean the cutting elements.

  1. Make sure the appliance is switched off.
  2. Rinse the cutting element of the trimming head with hot water.
  3. Switch on the appliance and rinse the cutting element once more to remove any remaining hairs. Then switch off the appliance again.
    If rinsing the trimming head under the tap is not sufficient, immerse the cutting element in a glass with warm water for a few minutes. Do not put the handle of the trimmer in the water, as this can damage the internal machinery.

    If this does not help, detach the nose trimmer attachment and soak this part separately in water for 8 hours.
  4. Let all parts dry completely before you use the appliance again.

Replacement

Replace damaged parts immediately. Always replace them with original Philips parts.

Recycling

  • Do not throw away the product with the normal household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in at an official collection point for recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the environment.
  • This product contains disposable batteries which shall not be disposed of with normal household waste.
  • Follow your country's rules for the separate collection of electrical and electronic products and batteries. Correct disposal helps prevent negative consequences for the environment and human health.

Problem Possible cause Solution

The appliance pulls at the hairs

You move the appliance too fast. Slowly move the trimming head around to remove all unwanted hairs in your nostrils.
Hairs or dirt obstruct the cutting element. Clean the cutting element after each use.
The disposable battery is empty. Insert a new battery.

The appliance does not work.

The disposable battery is empty or has been inserted incorrectly. Replace the battery or insert it correctly.
The cutting element of the nose/ ear/ eyebrow trimming head is blocked, for instance because some nasal mucus has dried inside the cutting element. Clean the cutting element thoroughly, immerse it in a bowl with warm water for a few minutes. Then switch on the appliance and rinse it under a hot tap (see 'Cleaning').
