CHAPTER 3 Equipment Installation ™ This chapter provides information for installation of the equipment used in a VxRack system. Topics include: Installation of the equipment in the cabinet ............30 Install the D51B-1U server in the cabinet............30 Install the management server in the cabinet.............
Equipment Installation Installation of the equipment in the cabinet Always begin component installation at the bottom of the cabinet and work upward. Install components at the lowest available space for that component type. Placement of the equipment in the cabinet is dependent on the type of power distribution units installed in the cabinet.
Equipment Installation Figure 7 Correct location for ball bearing retainer assembly 7. From the front of the cabinet, align the inner rails attached to the server with the plastic guide block on the front inside of each slide rail. Figure 8 Inner rail over the first part of ball bearing retainer assembly 8.
Equipment Installation Figure 9 Inner rail over the first part of ball bearing retainer assembly 9. Once the inner rails are properly engaged with the ball bearing retainer assemblies, push the server into the cabinet until the slide rails are engaged and locked.
Equipment Installation Table 9 Mounting kit parts (continued) Component Four Phillips pan-head 8-32 x 0.35 in Stabilize the server and rail mounting screws 1U bezel (application specific) Covers front of server in cabinet CL4887 You need a # 2 Phillips-head screwdriver to complete the installation of the rails and server.
Equipment Installation Figure 10 Removing the inner rail from the slide rail CL4883 Attach the inner rails to the server Attach an inner rail to each side of the server by performing the procedure that follows for each rail. Procedure 1.

Equipment Installation Install the server on the rails in the cabinet CAUTION The enclosure is heavy and should be installed into or removed from a rack by two people. To avoid personal injury and/or damage to the equipment, do not attempt to lift and install the enclosure into a rack without a mechanical lift and/or help from another person.
Page 37
Equipment Installation Note For clarity the figure shows the inner rail without the server attached. CL5093 3. Slide the server into the cabinet so the inner rails extends over the plastic guide blocks and the first part of the ball bearing retainer assemblies. Note For clarity the figure shows the inner rail without the server attached.
Equipment Installation CL4962 6. To further secure the rail assembly and server in the cabinet, insert and tighten a small stabilizer screw directly behind each bezel latch. CL4963 Install the management switch in the cabinet Install the management switch in the cabinet There are two cabinet rails (left and right).
Equipment Installation 5. Repeat previous two steps to attach the inner rail to other side of the management switch. 6. Check to ensure that the fan module is oriented with the blue label on left side of fan visible. If not, perform the following: a.
Equipment Installation 11. Type to enter interface configuration mode for the interface management 0 virtual interface which accesses management port 1 on the currently active supervisor. 12. Type , followed by the desired address, to assign a virtual IP ip address address for access to the active management port.
