Memory Editor Setup

This section provides the information of:
• How do I identify the COM port number to use with Memory Editor?
• How do I setup the COM port to use with Memory Editor?
NOTE: If you use the same USB port each time when you insert the USB cable to your
computer, the COM port setup is completed only one time.
If you switch to another USB port, the NEC USB Drivers must be installed for
the new USB port and the COM port setup must be completed again. Therefore,
it is recommended that you insert the USB cable into the same USB port each
time when you use Memory Editor.

Identify COM Port Number

First, you must determine the COM port that the NEC Portable Phone USB Modem is
assigned.
You may access the Device Manager window through System in the Control Panel, but
using the instructions provided requires fewer steps to find the necessary COM
information.
1. Go to Start and Control Panel.
2. Select Modems. The Modem Properties window displays.
