When handling the ink cartridges ❏ Keep ink cartridges out of the reach of children. Do not allow children to drink from or otherwise handle the cartridges. ❏ Be careful when you handle the used ink cartridges, as there may be some ink around the ink supply port. If ink gets on your skin, wash the area thoroughly with soap and water.

  • Page 20: Loading Plain Paper

Loading Plain Paper Follow the steps below to load plain paper in the printer. 1. Lower the output tray and slide out the extension. Next, slide the left edge guide so that the distance between the edge guides is slightly wider than the width of your paper. If you load long paper (for example, legal size paper), pull up the paper support extension.
  • Page 21: Loading Special Paper And Other Media

However, using coated paper results in higher quality printouts because these media absorb smaller amounts of ink. EPSON provides special media that are formulated for the ink used in EPSON ink jet printers. EPSON recommends using media distributed by EPSON to ensure high-quality results. See “EPSON special media”...

❏ If ink smears on your documents when printing on thick media, set the adjust lever to the “+” position. To change the setting, open the printer cover and position the lever as shown in the illustration. Note: ❏ Return the adjust lever to the “0” position before printing on media of normal thickness.

❏ Select Plain Paper as the Media Type setting in the printer driver. Using Roll Paper EPSON Premium Semigloss Photo Paper also comes in a roll paper format, which is convenient for banner printing. EPSON recommends using the Roll Paper Holder that is packaged with the printer to feed roll paper into the printer.
  • Page 26: Using The Roll Paper Holder

Using the Roll Paper Holder You will need the Roll Paper Holder to feed roll paper into the printer in roll form. Preparing the roll paper Before printing, always prepare the paper as described below. 1. Check that the end of the roll is cut perpendicularly to the edges as shown.
  • Page 27 2. Roll the paper in the direction opposite of the paper’s curl so that the curl disappears, as shown below. Use the protective film packaged with the Roll Paper Holder, or a thin booklet such as your Daily Use guide to roll the paper inside. Loading the roll paper Follow the directions below to mount the Roll Paper Holder and feed the roll paper.
  • Page 28 3. Mount the Roll Paper Holder by lowering it into the slot on the back of the sheet feeder where the paper support was mounted, as shown below. Note: Match the R and L markings on the Roll Paper Holder to those on the printer.

A cathode-ray tube (CRT) monitor produces images by illuminating color phosphors on the screen with an electron gun. (A phosphor is a substance that gives off light when irradiated.) Each screen point (pixel) has three colored phosphors: red (R), green (G), and blue (B).

Since increasing the image size means decreasing the image resolution, you must take care that print quality or color tone is not degraded when working with images pasted into documents created with word processing software. To avoid print quality and color tone problems, change the size and the resolution of the image in your graphics application before pasting it into your document.
