TROUBLESHOOTING

Windows will not start.
• The SW60XG may not be inserted properly into the expansion slot. Check it or insert the SW60XG into
another expansion slot and try again.
MIDI (internal synthesizer) does not sound.
• YAMAHA SW60XG Driver may not be selected as the MIDI output port.
• EffectGearll's input fader may be set to minimum, thus preventing sound output. Adjust and try again.
• Audio system may not be properly connected to the SW60XG output. Verify connections and try again.
Improper balance between sound effects and MIDI music during game play.
• Using the game's set-up menu or control panel, adjust the balance. The SW60XG will typcally be
effected by the "music card" or "music vol" controls. Sound effects will typically be controlled by the
"sound card", "effects", or "SFX Vol" controls.
• For applications running under Windows, check the controls of any "mixer" or "volume control" appli-
cations supplied by the manufacturer of your sound effects card (for example, the "SB16 Mixer"). You
may also be able to set the desired levels via the SW60XG EffectGearll application.
• For DOS games, use EFCON commands to configure the SW60XG. Once the appropriate values are
determined, commands may be included in the autoexec.bat file of a DOS boot disk. See page 1 1
(EFFECTCON) for details.
Starting up EffectGearll during MIDI song playback resets the voices to Piano.
• This is normal operation. Starting EffectGearll during MIDI song playback resets and initializes all the
parameters of the tone generator. All voices except Channel 10 (drum part) will be reset to Piano voice
(Grand Piano). Always start EffectGearll before beginning MIDI song playback.
Executes Voice Cancel. Execute this command to reduce the volume level of the
vocal from CD audio playback for karaoke sing-along accompaniment.
