Operational Difficulties

WARNING:
HIGH
ROTATING PARTS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY.

Power not connected

Open circuit in stator or rotor

Winding grounded
Excessive load torque

Motor running single phase

QUALIFIED PERSONNEL. FAMILIARIZATION WITH
NEMA PUBLICATION MG-2, SAFETY STANDARDS
FOR
CONSTRUCTION
SELECTION,
INSTALLATION
ELECTRIC MOTORS AND GENERATORS, THE
NATIONAL
ELECTRICAL
LOCAL PRACTICES IS RECOMMENDED.
Connect power to control, and control
to motor. Check contacts.
Check motor nameplate value with bus
voltage.
Check connections with control wiring
diagram.
Disconnect motor from load. If motor
starts
satisfactorily,
machine.
Measure/compare winding resistance
of each phase.
Test for grounded winding.
Check motor capability.
Wait for motor to cool. Try starting
again.
Stop motor. Then try to start. It will not
start on single phase. Check for
"Open" in one of the lines or circuits.
Check balance by measuring current
and voltage in each phase. Correct the
power supply to obtain balanced
voltages.
