A laptop computer with an available 32-bit Cardbus PC Card slot
•
At least a 300 MHz processor and 32 MB of memory
•
Cardbus Controller properly installed and working
•
An 802.11a Access Point (for Infrastructure Mode) or another 802.11a
wireless adap
ter (for Ad-Hoc mode.)
Installing the DWL-A650
•
Turn on the computer.
•
Insert the D-Link AirPro
DWL-A650 Wireless
Cardbus Adapter into an
available 32-bit Cardbus PC
Card slot.

    Click Finish to complete • the installation. Installing the Configuration Utility • LinkMon is the Configuration Utility. Insert the Driver CD into the CD- ROM drive. The Autorun program will display the screen below. • Click on Install LinkMon to install the Configuration Utility.

    Connecting to the Wireless Network Once you have the DWL-A650 properly installed, you will see the icon shown below. • Right-click on the icon in the task bar. • Select View Available W ireless Networks Note: If View Available Wireless Networks is not shown, please re-insert the wireless adapter.
  • Page 6 Checking the Wireless Settings • Double-click on the icon in the taskbar to see the status of and information about your connected network. • The window appears and displays the current status of the wireless connection. • Select Properties • Under General tab and select Configure…...
  • Page 7 • Select Settings Tab. • Click on Modify… • If necessary, changes can be made to the wireless settings. • The factory default settings are: Network Name (SSID) = Default Network Connection = AP (Infrastructure) Power Saving = Normal TurboMode = Disabled Please refer to the Troubleshooting and Networking Basics sections in the manual on the Driver CD for additional information.
