General Description Operations Manual Thyro Power Manager General Description The Thyro-E System (hereafter called the “system”) is an electronic unit to reduce the output voltage in three steps. It is designed for the connection of a lighting system to reduce the operating voltage at certain times and to consequently save costs, energy and CO .
  • Page 8 Operations Manual Thyro Power Manager General Description Figure 2: Circuit without Thyro-E Figure 3: Circuit with Thyro-E The system works as a continuous and contactless change-over switch of the transformer tappings. The continuous and contactless change-over takes place by means of the power controller Thyro-A 3A 230-xxx HRLP E.
  • Page 9: Intended Use

Intended Use Operations Manual Thyro Power Manager The power controller is provided with an undervoltage monitor. If the mains voltage falls below this limit, the Unit immediately switches to the next higher stage preventing an extinguishing of the lamps. If this limit is reached, the overvoltage monitor, which is also provided in the power controller ensures the switching to a lower stage.

  • Page 27: Functional Description

Functional Description Operations Manual Thyro Power Manager Functional Description General The system is appropriate for nearly any type of lighting equipment making a significant conservation of energy and saving of costs possible by reducing the output voltage. This reduction may take place at times in which the full luminous intensity is not necessary. The system switches the tappings of an autotransformer continuously and contactless to the lamps.
  • Page 28: Functional Description

Operations Manual Thyro Power Manager Functional Description The power controller is provided with an overvoltage and undervoltage monitor. If the lamp voltage falls below the adjustable value (factory setting 180V, see chapter 8.1.2 on page 33), it is immediately switched to the next higher stage. An extinguishing of the lamps is thereby prevented.
  • Page 29: Description Of The General Procedures

Functional Description Operations Manual Thyro Power Manager Different parameters, such as, for example, the connection time, the under- and overvoltage limits, as well as other times and hystereses can be set in the power controller. The existing potentiometers and/or the PC programme Thyro-Tool E (extra) can be used for this purpose. However, the Unit is not completely pre-parameterised so that it also works without any further settings.
  • Page 30: Control Via Binary Inputs

Operations Manual Thyro Power Manager Functional Description However, the timer can also be adapted by the user to his needs or times. Thus, it is for example reasonable in case of car park lighting to fully switch on the system on change of shifts and set it back in times between the change.
