1. UP Silent Models: Adjusting the Hammer Shank Stopper and Let-Off

For UP silent models: During silent mode, the jack must escape before the hammer shank touches the shank stop-
per. This means that the hammer let-off must be set somewhat wider than on a conventional acoustic piano.
Owing to a change in the shank-stopper specification, the shank-stop and let-off positions have been changed to
the values indicated below.

Adjustment Principles
• The shank-stop position should be as close to the strings as feasible without producing any acoustic
sound.
• The let-off position must come just before the shank-stop position, and the jack must fully escape.
• The adjustments must not interfere with acoustic-mode sound.
Adjustment
1. Rotary Type (Shank stop: 10–12 mm; Let-off: 12–13 mm)
• Use the turn buckle to adjust the angle of the shank stopper (so that the stopper is parallel to the shank
when it makes contact).
• Adjust the shank stop position by adding or removing spacers between the stopper and the bracket.
2. Plate Type (Shank stop: 5–7 mm; Let-off: 6–8 mm)
• Use the turn buckle to adjust the shank stop position.
• If you cannot make the necessary adjustment with the turn buckle, add or remove spacers as necessary
between the stopper and the bracket.
