Clutch Inspection
1. I n s p e c t t h e c l u t c h p i s t o n s a n d c l u t c h p i s t o n c h e c k
v a l v e s ( A ) . If t h e c l u t c h p i s t o n c h e c k v a l v e s a r e
l o o s e o r d a m a g e d , r e p l a c e t h e c l u t c h p i s t o n .

2. C h e c k t h e s p r i n g r e t a i n e r f o r w e a r a n d d a m a g e . If
t h e s p r i n g r e t a i n e r is w o r n o r d a m a g e d , r e p l a c e it.
3. I n s p e c t t h e c l u t c h d i s c s , t h e c l u t c h p l a t e s , a n d t h e
c l u t c h e n d - p l a t e f o r w e a r , d a m a g e , a n d
d i s c o l o r a t i o n .
• If t h e c l u t c h d i s c s a r e w o r n o r d a m a g e d , r e p l a c e
t h e m a s a s e t . If t h e c l u t c h d i s c s a r e r e p l a c e d ,
i n s p e c t t h e c l e a r a n c e b e t w e e n t h e c l u t c h e n d -
p l a t e a n d t h e t o p d i s c (see p a g e 1 4 - 3 3 2 ) .
• If a n y c l u t c h w a v e - p l a t e is w o r n , d a m a g e d , o r
d i s c o l o r e d , r e p l a c e t h e d a m a g e d c l u t c h w a v e -
p l a t e w i t h a n e w c l u t c h w a v e - p l a t e , a n d i n s p e c t
t h e o t h e r c l u t c h w a v e - p l a t e s f o r p h a s e d i f f e r e n c e
(see p a g e 1 4 - 3 3 1 ) . If t h e c l u t c h w a v e - p l a t e is
r e p l a c e d , i n s p e c t t h e c l e a r a n c e b e t w e e n t h e
c l u t c h e n d - p l a t e a n d t h e t o p d i s c (see p a g e
1 4 - 3 3 2 ) .
• If a n y c l u t c h f l a t - p l a t e is w o r n , d a m a g e d , o r
d i s c o l o r e d , r e p l a c e a s a s e t . If t h e c l u t c h f l a t - p l a t e
a r e r e p l a c e d , i n s p e c t t h e c l e a r a n c e b e t w e e n t h e
c l u t c h e n d - p l a t e a n d t h e t o p d i s c (see p a g e
1 4 - 3 3 2 ) .
• If t h e c l u t c h e n d - p l a t e is w o r n , d a m a g e d , o r
d i s c o l o r e d , i n s p e c t t h e c l e a r a n c e b e t w e e n t h e
c l u t c h e n d - p l a t e a n d t h e t o p d i s c ( s e e p a g e
1 4 - 3 3 2 ) , t h e n r e p l a c e t h e c l u t c h e n d - p l a t e .
