1.
Check the chain for
prop-
er free play with a rider
in
position.
Total move-
ment at the center of the
lower section of the chain
should be about
¾
inch
(20
mm).
If it is not.
con-
tinue with step 2
.

Using a 25 mm socket
wrench.
loosen the rear
wheel
nut.

Adjust the
play in the
chain by turn ing the
ad-
justing nut on each side
of
t
he wheel. Turn both
nuts the same
amount.
Note
Turning the nuts in
de-
creases free
play.

.
Check that the wheel is
aligned properly by
mak-
ing sure that the match
mark on the chain
adjust-
er is aligned with the same
swing arm mark on each
side of the wheel.
Ad
-
just the nuts individually
if
necessary.

.
When
chain
play
and
wheel alignment are
good.
tighten the wheel
nut.

.
Check the rear brake ad
-
justment.
It may
have
changed due to the chain
adj
ustment.
