Standard Cabling Configuration

The server unit is cabled using a dual channel on-board Adaptec 7899 SCSI
controller.
The on-board IDE controller supports the standard internally mounted CD-ROM
as its master device.
The AIC 7899 contains two independent SCSI channels that share a single PCI
bus master interface. Each channel is capable of operations using either 8- or 16-
bit SCSI providing 160 MB/s (Ultra 160/m) throughput. As implemented on the
system board controller A attaches to the standard Ultra-160/m SCSI backpanel
that supports up to five 160/m SCA drives. Controller B is used to support SCSI
devices in the 5 1/4-inch removable media bays and to SCSI hard disk drives
connected to the external SCSI connector port. A 68 pin to 50 pin converter is
also available to be used when installing narrow SCSI devices.
A 3.5-inch floppy diskette drive is also installed in the system and interfaces
separately to the system board.
Referring to Figure C-1 a 68-pin Ultra-160/m SCSI interface cable (L) is
connected to the SCSI connector (M) on the system board. This cable connects
to the rear of the standard hard disk drive's SCSI backpanel (I). Optional
internally mounted SCSI removable media devices (A) may be connected to the
SCSI controller connector (K) with Ultra-Wide SCSI interface cable (B). This
cable also connects to an external SCSI connector (N) located on the rear of the
server chassis.
The IDE interface cable (D) is connected to the IDE connector (E) on the system
board. This cable connects to the rear of the internally mounted CD-ROM drive
(C).
The diskette drive interface cable (G) is connected to the diskette drive
connector (H) on the system board. This cable connects to the rear of the
internally mounted diskette drive (F).
