Configuring the System

Configuring the TCP/IP

To use the TCP/IP protocol for Internet connection, you must configure network information such
as IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway.
SMG-400 provides the following two methods for TCP/IP configuration.
Automatic Configuration
Configures TCP/IP information automatically using a DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration
Protocol) server.
Manual Configuration
Specify the static IP address, subnet mask and default gateway of the SMG-400.
Before configuring TCP/IP, determine whether automatically configure TCP/IP information or not.
Automatic configuration requires DHCP service provided by a DHCP server.
In case automatic configuration is not available, you have to know the following information
for manual configuration of TCP/IP settings.
- IP address and subnet mask for the SMG-400
- IP address of default gateway
Option
Automatic Configuration
To set up TCP/IP information automatically using a DHCP server, configure the SMG-400 as a
DHCP client using the following directions.
1. At the SMG-400 prompt, type 'sysmenu' and press [Enter].
SMG400:165.213.81.230> sysmenu
2. <System Configuration Menu> screen is displayed. Type '0' and press [Enter].
