Set Up the Repeater

Use a wired Ethernet connection to set up the repeater unit to avoid conflicts with the WiFi connection to
the base station.
If you are using the router as the base station with a non-NETGEAR router as the repeater, you might
need to change more configuration settings. In particular, disable the DHCP server function on the access
point that is the repeater.
To set up a NETGEAR router as the repeater:
1.
Launch a web browser from a computer or WiFi device that is connected to the network.
2.
Enter http://www.routerlogin.net.
A login window opens.
3.
Enter the router user name and password.
The user name is admin. The default password is password. The user name and password are
case-sensitive.
The BASIC Home page displays.
4.
Select Wireless.
The Wireless Setup page displays.
5.
Verify that the WiFi settings match the base unit exactly.
For you to use the WiFi repeating function, the WiFi security option must be set to None and the router
cannot use the auto channel feature. However, if you want to use security, the only type of security
that is supported with the WiFi repeating function is WEP legacy security, which requires the 2.4 GHz
radio band to function in the Up to 54 Mbps mode.
6.
Select ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > Wireless Repeating.
