Questions About the TiVo Service
Why does the Recorder have to be connected to a phone line? Do I need to keep
the phone connected aU the time?
The SVR Recorder ships with a 50 foot phone cord, and does not need to be
connected all the time. After Guided Setup (described in your Setup Guide)
completes, you can unplug the phone line and store it with the SVR Recorder. You
only need to reconnect it to the phone line about once or twice a week. Plug in the
phone line, then go to Messages and Setup, Phone Connection and choose
"'Make Daily Call Now."
There are very few or no shows listed when I press LIVE TV/GUIDE, or when
I look
for programs to record. When I change the channel, the Channel Banner always
says "To be announced."
Is your TiVo Service account up to date? Check your account status on the System
Information screen. If your account is "Suspended" or "Closed" and you wish to
re-activate your account, call TiVo Customer Care.
Look in the Phone Connection screen under Messages & Setup. If your last
successful call was more than 36 hours ago, your Recorder may be having trouble
dialing the TiVo Service. See page 60 for troubleshooting help.
Check your phone line. Is it plugged in to the Recorder? Is the phone line
functional? (Check it by plugging another phone into the phone line.) See pages
60-61 for help with your phone line.
Try resetting your Recorder. Reach around the back right side of the unit and
disconnect the power cord. Wait fifteen seconds, then re-insert it. You will see the
Another method of resetting the
Recorder is to choose Factory Settings
from the Messages and Setup screen, then
choose Restart the Recorder. Take care
not to choose Fun System Reset.
