The purpose of this procedure is to determine if the suspect LED is operating properly as a
diode. To perform this procedure, begin with Check 1 and continue as instructed.
Check 1
(A) Disconnect the non-operational LED from the system board. (Only the
Power/Sleep and HDD LEDs are connected to the system board. The other
LEDs are hardwired into the corresponding device.) (B) Perform a DIODE check
on the LED connector.
NOTE: The Forward BIOS voltage should equal 1.8VDC and the Reverse BIOS
voltage should equal OL (overload).
If the LED readings are correct, perform Check 3. If the LED readings are not
correct, perform Check 2.
Check 2
(A) Replace the LED. (2) Perform Check 1.
Check 3
If the non-operational LED is:
the Power/Sleep LED, perform Procedure 2.
the HDD LED, perform Procedure 3.
the FDD LED, perform Procedure 4.
the CD-ROM LED, perform Procedure 5.
