The amount of acid added to the sample, oxidizer, and dilution water (if any). A setting of
1% Acid means that 1% (V/V) of the total solution in the sparger will be acid.
The Auto Dilution feature is used only during calibrations and verifications. The InnovOx
TOC Analyzer automatically dilutes a standard, having a higher concentration, so that
the Analyzer can be calibrated or verified at a lower concentration.
The standard can be diluted by any factor, up to a limit that differs according to which
measurement Range is to be used:
Range
Up to 1,000 ppm
Up to 5,000 ppm
Up to 20,000 ppm
Up to 50,000 ppm
For example, a standard having a concentration of 1,000 ppm TOC can be diluted down
to 40 ppm in the 1,000 ppm range. It could be diluted to 500 ppm in the 5,000 ppm
range. In the 20,000 ppm range, it could be diluted only to 8,000 ppm. In the 50,000 ppm
Range, Auto Dilution is not active.
The Auto Range feature allows samples to be measured when the correct
measurement Range is not known. The InnovOx TOC Analyzer first makes a preliminary
measurement of the sample using the 50,000 ppm Range. Based on the results of that
measurement, the Analyzer selects the correct Range to use and performs the analysis
of the sample using the protocol settings selected by the user. For Auto Range to be
applied, all four Ranges must be calibrated, and a calibration for each Range must be
assigned to a Calibration Group (see below). The Auto range can use default calibrations.
The Auto Restart feature sets the Analyzer to resume analysis after a power outage.
When the Auto Restart feature is Off, the Analyzer will remain in Standby when power is
restored.
Blank refers to the measurement of the carbon concentrations in the acid, oxidizer, and
dilution water. The Analyzer performs this measurement automatically when the Blank
button is pressed. The Blank button is found on the Maintenance screen.
It refers to the calculated contribution that the carbon in the acid, oxidizer, and dilution
water make to a measurement performed by the Analyzer. When Blank Correction is On
during the analysis of a sample or standard, this blank contribution by the reagents and
dilution water is subtracted from the carbon measurement.
The advantage of using the Blank Correction feature is that the correction is calculated,
regardless of any changes in the measurement Range, or changes in Acid or Oxidizer
percentages. The Blank Correction feature should be performed when reagents or
dilution water are changed.
