Note: If you choose a default messaging app other than Messages (such as Google Hangouts), you
will not be able to use the standard Messages app unless you restore it as the default messaging
app.
Sounds and Notifications Settings
The Sounds and notifications settings menu lets you control your phone's audio, from ringtones and
alerts to tap tones and notifications.
Sounds and Notifications Settings Overview
The sounds and notifications settings menu allows you to configure the following options:
Sound Setting
Sound mode
Volume
Ringtones and sounds
Vibrations
Sound quality and
effects
Do not disturb
Notifications on lock
screen
App notifications
Sound Mode
You can switch between sound modes, while preserving the individual sound settings you've made.
Note: Sound modes are also available from the Device options menu. Press and hold the Power
Key, and then choose Mute, Vibrate, or Sound from the Device options.
1. From a Home screen, tap Apps
Settings
Set the sound mode for the phone (Sound, Vibrate, or Mute).
Set volume for ringtones, media, system features, etc.
Set your ringtones and notification sounds for your phone, apps,
keypad, and other features.
Configure vibration pattern, feedback, and other settings.
Set sound quality and sound effects for your phone.
Configure the Do not disturb feature to mute calls and alerts at will or
on a schedule, as well as set exceptions.
Set a tone for default phone notifications.
Configure notifications for apps installed on your phone.
