Section 4 - Configuration
Device Mode
The DIR-880L can be placed into two device modes: Router Mode and Bridge Mode.
The default mode is Router Mode. To change the device mode, in the Settings menu
on the bar on the top of the page, click Internet to see the Internet configuration
options. On the Device Mode drop-down menu, select either Router Mode or Bridge
Mode. The router will then reboot into the new mode.
Router Mode is the most commonly used mode, and unlocks all functionality. If you
are unsure which mode to choose, select Router Mode.
Bridge Mode is commonly used when there is already a router in the network, and
you want to avoid conflicts (with IP addresses, for instance). In Bridge Mode, the
Features menu is hidden (as these features are not part of Bridge Mode) and the
Settings menu will contain only the Internet and Wireless options.
