1 The Norstar does not have a cost effective battery backup option. An expensive UPS is required for reserve power backup.
2 Norstar DID numbers (not regular DNs) can appear more than once on a DKT and can appear on another telephone, providing
limited multiple DN appearances. No phantom DNs.
3 Norstar can be an end node in a Meridian 1 private network, but cannot network multiple Norstars alone. Supports uniform
dialing plan but no centralized voice mail and no feature transparency.
4 Toshiba Strata DK424 supports partial networking features of coordinated numbering, centralized voice mail, and off-net toll
bypass over a private network through Adtran adjunct equipment. Release link trunk and feature transparency not supported.
5 The Nortel Meridian Option 11C Compact supports maximum 200 ports in 2 cabinets with the General Business configuration
and 400 ports in 3 cabinets with the Hospitality configuration.
6 Nortel announced that the Meridian Option 11C will soon be expanded from 400 ports to 700 ports using dual-port daughter
boards that replace the single-port boards.
