ADVANCE PLANNING
Ductwork Planning
This hood may be vented vertically through upper cabinets,
soffit or ceiling.A duct transition piece issuppliedfor vertical
exhaust. Uselocally suppliedelbows to vent horizontally
through the rear wall. Seepage 13.
Determinethe exact location of the vent hood.
Planthe route for venting exhaustto the outdoors.
Usethe shortest and straightest duct route possible.FFor
satisfactory performance,duct run should not exceed 100
equivalent length for any duct configurations.
Usemetal ductwork only.
A transition piecefor 7" round duct issupplied.Use 7" round
duct oryou may use3-1/4" x 12" rectangular.
Installa wall cap or roof cap with damper at the exterior
opening.Order the wall or roof cap and any transition
neededin advance.
Kit - J×DW1
Order kit J×DW1if your installationrequireshorizontalducting
from the top of the hood through the back wall and:
• You have an 8 ft. ceilingand needto use a JXCHSeries
ChimneyCover,or
• You have a 12"cabinet or 12" soffit that the hood is to be
mounted beneath.
This kit provides a duct transition from 7" round to 3-1/4" x 10"
rectangularfor through-the-wall venting.
Wall Framing for Adequate Support
• Thisvent hood is heaw. Adequate structureal support must
be provided.Thehood must be securedto vertical studs in
the wall. Seepage 14.
• We strongly recommend that the vent hood with duct cover
be on site before final framing and wall finishing.Thiswill
also help to accurately locate the ductwork and electrical
service.
DECORATIVE DUCT COVERS
A decorativeduct cover is availableto fit both model widths.
Theduct cover concealsthe ductwork running from the top of
the hood to the ceilingor soffit_ Theduct coverwill fit 8 ft. to !0
ft. ceilingheights.Seepage !2 for details.
POWER SUPPLY

installation.
Donot usean extensioncord or adapter plug with this
appliance.FollowNational electricalcodesor prevailinglocal
codes and ordinances.

Thisvent hood must be suppliedwith 120V,60 Hz,and
connectedto an individual,properlygrounded branch circuit,
and protected by a 15 or 20 amp circuit breakeror time delay
fuse.
Wiring must be 2 wire with ground.
Ifthe electricalsupply doesnot meet the above
requirements,call a licensedelectricianbefore proceeding.
Routehousewiring ascloseto the installatonlocationas
possiblein the ceiling,soffit or wall. Seepage !3 for details.
Connectthe wiring to the housewiring in accordancewith
local codes.
Grounding instructions
Thegrounding conductor must be connectedto a ground
metal, permanent wiring system,or an equipment-grounding
terminal or leadon the hood.
A WA RNiNG: The
improper
connection
of t he
equipment-grounding conductorcanresultin a riskof electric shock.
Check with a qualified electrician or service representative ifyouare
in doubtwhetherthe appliance is properly grounded..
