The fiberglass insulation in self-clean ovens gives off very small amounts of formaldehyde during the first several cleaning cycles. California lists formaldehyde as a potential cause of cancer.

See the sections below for further information on each. Diffusion Burner Caps Depending on the model, the appliance is equipped with between 1 and 4 diffu- sion burner caps.
  • Page 10 Getting Started Flat Oven Racks The racks are designed with a stop so they will stop before coming completely out of the oven and not tilt. CAUTION To avoid burns, place oven racks in desired positions before turning oven on. Always use oven mitts when the oven is warm.If a rack must be moved while the oven is hot, do not let oven mitts contact hot burn- ers.
  • Page 11 Getting Started Removing and Replacing Note: The full extension rack must be in the closed position when removing and replacing. Grasp the entire rack (both sections). Grasp the bottom section and pull straight out. Once the stop is reached, grasp the top section and pull straight out until the second stop is reached.
  • Page 12 Getting Started Cleaning Clean rack with hot sudsy water. Dry thoroughly. For stubborn dirt, use a soap filled steel wool pad. DO NOT clean the rack in the self-cleaning oven. Half Oven Rack (Some Models) The half oven rack can be used as a simple flat rack or as a half-sized rack. With the right half of the rack removed, you can place a tall item (such as a turkey) on one side of the rack below and a shorter item (such as a casserole) on the other side.

    Getting Started Self Cleaning The oven features a self-cleaning function that eliminates the manual labor involved with cleaning your oven. Indicators and Other Features Beep - Signals that more information must be entered or confirms the receipt of an entry. A Beep also signals the end of a program or an oven error. End-of-Cycle Indicator - To indicate when a mode is finished, 3 consecutive beeps will sound.
