computer' s case.
2. One of the steps in the Windows NT installation is selecting the network
adapter driver.
During Windows NT installation, the system will reboot and continue with
the graphical installation. When you get to the Networking screen,
Windows NT Setup asks if you want it to detect the network adapter in your
computer. Select the "Do Not Detect" button. Setup then displays the
Network Adapter Setup dialog box and asks you to select an adapter from
a list. When you get to that point, continue your installation following the
instructions in step 3.
If you wish to add the network driver after Microsoft Windows NT has been
installed, select the "Network" icon in Control Panel. When the "Network
Settings" window appears, select "Add Adapter" to start the process of
adding the LAN Adapter network card into your Microsoft Windows NT
environment.
3. Select the network adapter driver.
Use the Drivers Diskette and follow the instructions given below to
configure your HP DeskDirect Network Adapter.
When the "Network Adapter Setup" dialog box shows up, use the arrow
keys to highlight the following line:
<Other> Requires disk from manufacturer
Click Continue to select this item.
4. When the "Insert Disk" window appears, insert the Drivers Diskette into
drive A: and enter the path name A:\NICDRV at the prompt to install the
driver.
5. When the "Select OEM Option" window appears with the following lines:
HP DeskDirect (J2585A) 10/100 PCI LAN Adapter
HP DeskDirect (J2585B) 10/100 PCI LAN Adapter
HP DeskDirect (J2970A) 10BaseT/10Base2 PCI LAN Adapter
HP DeskDirect (J2973A) 10BaseT PCI LAN Adapter
Highlight the line indicating your adapter, and press Enter to select it.
6. Setup loads all the required driver files. If the system has two or more
Network Adapters, you may need to repeat the procedure to install drivers
for the additional Adapters.
NOTE
If there was an HP DeskDirect Network Adapter already
installed in your computer, Windows NT may fail to
properly copy the new driver from the Support Disk. If this
occurs, copy the driver file "HPDDND3.SYS" from the
A:\NICDRV directory of the Drivers Diskette into the
<NT>\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS directory on your computer
(where <NT> is the root directory of the Windows NT
system files. The default location is WINNT35). To copy
the driver manually, perform the following steps (assuming
Windows NT is installed on drive C in the default location
