Chapter 3
Cable guide placement is determined in turn by where the doors are
hinged. Doors can be mounted to swing from either side of the rack.
Locate the cable guide on the same side of the rack as the door hinge
hardware. Locate the PDU opposite the cable guide (if mounted
vertically), on the same side as the door latch hardware. If mounted
horizontally, PDU location does not make a significant difference to cable
routing.
All data connections to devices (except the monitor) are made to the
server using 98 inch (2.5 meter) cables.
The monitor is connected to the video port of the server (or alternately to
the HP Console Switch) with a 72 inch (1.8 m) cable.
The mounting distances provided in rack layouts assume cables between
the servers and connected devices provide for a cable management loop
(for the LH 4r).

Cooling Requirements for the HP NetServer LH 4r

The HP NetServer LH 4r should be kept at an operating temperature between 68
and 72 degrees F.
Because of the heat generated by the HP NetServer LH 4r, both the front and rear
doors of the rack have perforated surfaces. If you are installing the HP NetServer
LH 4r in a rack which does not have front and rear perforated doors, replace the
doors on your rack with perforated doors to ensure proper cooling.
Air flow in the rack enters units through front panels and leaves through the rear.
Because of the high capacity fans installed on the HP NetServer LH 4r, Hewlett-
Packard does not recommend an exhaust fan be installed with this unit, as long
as the rack has both front and rear doors that are perforated.
