Note that the Manufacturing Test disables the terminal's
interrupt system. Data received over a data comm port
while the test is in progress is lost.
The various possible error messages which may be
generated by the Manufacturing Test are as follows:
BAD ID FIRM ROM n
The identification byte in firmware ROM chip "n" is
incorrect. The specified ROM chip must be replaced.
CMOS RAM
Either the non-volatile RAM chip or the battery is bad.
CRC CHAR ROM n
The character ROM "n" is bad and must be replaced.
K/P8041
The keyboard/printer controller chip is bad and must
be replaced. This message can occur either during the
keyboard/printer controller chip test or when an error
is encountered while reading bytes from a character
ROM.
NO FIRM ROM n
Firmware ROM chip "n" is a required part but is not
present in the terminal.
PORT1 ERROR n
An error condition was detected while testing data
comm port # 1. The error code" n" is as described for the
User Data Comm Test, above.
PORT2 ERROR n
An error condition was detected while testing data
comm port #2. The error code "n" is as described for the
User Data Comm Test, above.

Error Messages and Self-Tests
RAMmmmm
nn
A display RAM chip error was detected.
"mmmm"
and
"nn" provide details about the error condition.
PRINTER
An error condition was detected while testing the in-
tegral printer. Note that the error condition may be
either of the following, in which case you could correct
it yourself immediately:
1.
Out of paper.
2. The metal latch (under the plastic printer lid) is not
pressed down securely.
There may also be a problem with the printer mech-
anism itself.
VIDEO 8041
The video controller chip is bad and must be replaced.
WRONG FIRM ROM n
The socket within the terminal for firmware ROM chip
"n" contains the wrong chip.
If there is not at least one character ROM present in
the terminal at power-on time, an inverse video field
(two characters wide) is displayed at the bottom of the
screen. This is done because an actual error message
cannot be displayed if there are no character ROMs
present.
