Using the closed caption feature
The closed caption feature has two options:
• Captions -- An on-screen display of the dialogue, narration, and
sound effects of programs and videos that are closed-captioned
(usually identified as "CC" in program guides).
• Text I
An on-screen display of information
not related to the
program, such as weather or stock data (when provided by
individual stations).
To view captions or text:
1. Tune the q_Vto the desired program or video.
2. Press C.CAPT to cycle through the closed caption modes (C1
through C4, T1 through T4, and OFF). Each time C.CAPT is
pressed, the closed caption mode changes.

BACKGROUND
• To view captions, highlight C1, C2, C3, or C4 (C1 displays
captions in the primary language in your area).
Note: If theprogramor videoyou are viewingis not closed-captioned,
no captionswilldisplayon the screen.
Note:
Thedosed caption feature can be also
selected bypressing MENU and • I_ to
display the Custom menu, AT to highlight
CC, and then • I_ to select a closed caption
mode.

Note:
A closed caption signal may not be decoded
in the following situations:
• when a videotape has been dubbed
• when the signal reception is weak
• when the signal reception is nonstandard
• To turn offthe
closed-caption
feature,
