1.3.5 Installing Air Ducts

1.3.5.1 Installing a Supply Air Duct

Procedure
Step 1 Use M6 screws to secure the canvas sheet metal and canvas to the air supply vent
at the bottom of the container. You need to drill holes at the air supply vent.
Issue 02 (2023-08-03)
Air dampers or fire dampers must be installed at the air supply and return
vents. The air dampers must be installed horizontally to prevent them from
being stuck due to gravity. Motorized air dampers with the manual function
must be used. The 2–10 V DC control AO air dampers are recommended.
After shutting down the unit, ensure that the air dampers are closed.
It is recommended that the air ducts be made of galvanized steel sheets or
higher-level materials. The thickness of the steel sheets must be at least 1.2
mm.
Add a pad at the flange joint between air duct sections. The pad should be
closed-cell foam rubber (thickness: 5 mm) or sealing rubber strip.
Flexible connections are required between the air ducts and the unit. The
flexible connections must be properly tightened without obvious distortion.
The cross-sectional area of an air duct must be greater than or equal to the
area of the corresponding air vent on the unit.
When installing an air duct, ensure that the air duct does not interfere with
the maintenance door of the unit. If there are high requirements on noise,
attach noise reduction sponges to the inner surface of the air duct.
An air damper cannot be directly installed on the flange of the unit. It can be
installed on the wall of the equipment room or on the air duct near the
equipment room.
For connections between the unit, flexible connections, air ducts, air dampers,
and building, the bolt spacing should not exceed 150 mm and all connection
seams should be sealed with sealant.
The external surfaces of air ducts, flexible connections, and air dampers must
be mounted with thermal insulation foam and an outer protective layer. The
thermal insulation foam must be made of antibacterial and mold-proof
material and at least 30 mm thick. The outer protective layer must be made
of aluminum sheets or stronger material that is at least 0.6 mm thick for
long-term outdoor application.
After air ducts and flexible connections are installed and sealed, perform light
leakage testing and rain testing to prevent air, cooling, and rain leakage
during use.
Recommended method for rain testing: Use a spray device (nozzle diameter:
6.3 mm) 3 m away from the unit and spray water to the air ducts and joints
at the flow rate of 12.5 L/min. Keep spraying to each key point for at least 5
min. After rain testing is complete, check the container, air ducts, and flexible
connections of the unit for water leakage.
