Supplement (Definitions)
22-1 New Battery
LR6 and LR14 alkaline cells and laminated batteries
manufactured within 3 months are defined as new.
For the Ni-Cd pack TP, a fully-charged (for 15 hours or
more) pack is defined as new.
22-2 Nominal Guide Number
(1) For measurement, a guide number measuring instru-
ment calibrated by JCII is used. This complies with
the JCII standard measurement method.
(2) A new battery is used.
(3) Immediately after the red pilot lamp comes on, the
flash is fired 10 times in sequence.
After that, 30
seconds after the red pilot lamp comes on for the
11th time, the measured value of manual full-power
flash is specified as the nominal guide number.
22-3 Nominal Recycling Time
Anew battery is used.
After the flash is fired 10 times
running as in 22-2 (3), the red pilot lamp comes on for
the 11th time. This interval is specified as the nomina
recycle time of manual flash firing.
22-4 Flashes per Battery
A new battery is used. The flash is fired (1/1 full power)
continuously at intervals of 30 seconds.
The number of
flashes, when the recycle time exceeds 30 seconds, is
regarded as the reference value.
For A-TTL flash, this
value multiplied by 7 is regarded as the nominal maxi-
mum number of flashes.
