Information pertinent to setup:
This tool is designed and set up for metal cutting only (rebar, galvanized fence posts, conduit,
etc.)
Make sure band saw is clean and clear of obstruction before connecting battery.
Work in a well-ventilated area and wear a respirator and safety glasses when cutting - heat
generated from sawing through certain materials can create hazardous debris and fumes (e.g.
galvanized tubing).
Avoid operating near flammable materials as sparks could be generated.
Always hold tool by insulated gripping handles.
If cutting conduit in place, be sure there are no wires inside the tube as it could cause
electrocution.
Do Not hold or secure pieces being cut with any part of your body. Secure work piece using a
vice or clamps to a safe work area.
Information pertinent to usage:
Stay clear of end pieces that may fall after cutting off.
Make sure to engage trigger lock when not using to prevent the tool from being activated
accidentally.
This tool has does not have the ability to be locked on. Do not alter tool or use additional
devices to make tool remain on.
Always be sure the blade is spinning at full power before engaging your material.
This portable band saw is designed to use .020" (0.5 mm) thick, 1/2" (12.5 mm) wide and 44-
7/8" (1140 mm) long blades. DO NOT USE .025 (.64 mm) thick blades
Blade Speed
o Your DCS374 portable band saw is equipped with variable speed for greater versatility.
Turn the speed wheel (K) to select the desired speed (Fig. 2, below).
o Speed 1 is the slowest speed; Speed 5 is the fastest.
o When cutting copper, brass, bronze, aluminum, cast iron, angle iron, and mild steel, use
a higher speed.
o When cutting plastic pipe, tougher steels, chrome steel, tungsten steel, stainless steel,
and other problematic materials, use a low speed.
NOTE: When cutting plastic pipe, higher speeds may melt plastic.
